# Planetary Buildings (On-Chain Asset)

Planetary buildings are activated using [Building Permits (on-chain asset)](/whitepaper/the-blockchain/building-permits-on-chain-asset.md).

Categories of planetary buildings include weapon assemblies, armor assemblies, shipyards, vehicle factories, cloning facilities (for troop production), bars (for hiring officers), tailor shops (for crafting cosmetics), custom orders (for crafting Explorer’s Medals), retail stores (for crafting weapon ornaments and emblems), administration halls, and various battlefield defenses.

Planetary buildings come in six rarity levels: white, green, blue, purple, orange, and red. The higher the rarity of a planetary building, the higher the building’s level cap.

A building’s rarity determines the highest possible rarity level of the items crafted by this building. A building’s level determines the maximum level an item (made by this building) can be upgraded to.
